The
Abstract of Neilingding Island-Futian National
Nature Reserve
of Guangdong
Neilingding
Island-Futian Nature Reserve was found in Ocotober
1984 and was recognized as one of the National Nature Reserve
in May 1988.The total area of the Reserve is 922 ha.It is
constituted by two areas:Neilingding Island and Futian Mangrove.
Futian Mangrove is the only Reserve located in a metropolis
in China, it is also the smallest National Nature Reserve.
Neilingding
Island is located in the eastern side of the Pearl
River Estuary, adjacent to Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Hongkong and
Macao. The total area is about 554 ha, Jianfeng Mountain is
the highest place on the Neilingding Island, with an alatitude
of 340.9 metres. The landscape of the island is very beautiful.
Plants on the Neilingding Island are in high diversity, consisiting
of about 619 species of vascular plants. Wild animals on the
island are widely distributed. Among them, macaques are over
1000 in number, which are Class-Ⅱ National protected animal.
Common otter,Chinese pangolin and black-eared kite etc. can
also be found on the island.
Futian Mangrove
together with Mai Po Mangrove of Hong Kong constitutes the
Shenzhen Deep Bay Mangrove wetland. Viviparous reproduction,
Salt secretion and Specialized root systems etc. are ecological
characteristics of mangrove. Mangrove plants flourish along
a 9km coastlines from Xinzhou Estuary in the east to the Costal
Ecological Park in the west. And the total area is 368 ha.
There are 194 bird species in Futian Mangrove, including 23
national key protection species. Every year more than 100,000
migratory birds of various species fly to Futian for resting
and feeding. Futian mangrove plays a significant role in protecting
birds of Eastern Hemisphere.
Costal Ecological Park
The
Coastal Ecological Park of Shenzhen is located in the west
of Futian Mangrove Bird Nature Reserve with an area of 22
ha. The park was founded in 1999,and has been open to the
public since December 2000.Because of its geographical position,
the Park is now under the management of the Administrative
Bureau of Guangdong Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve,
with the authority of the SZ Government. Its beautiful coastal
scene attracts thousands of tourists for sight- seeing and
recreation.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A PASS
PERMIT
TO THE NATURE RESERVES
According
to the relevant terms of the Management Regulations for Nature
Reserves, a pass permit is required for entry to a nature
reserve in China. The Neilingding Island is not an open area
for tourism at present, while the Futian Mangrove Reserve
has a strict number limit for visitors to reduce the possible
influence of human activities on habitat of wild birds in
this wetland. If you wish to visit this Mangrove Reserve,
you should apply for a pass permit by submitting your identity
document in person to the Permit Application Session.
